A focus of many businesses and academic programs is to use mathematics driven analytics data to inform strategic resource allocation. Numeric data provides a performance snapshot, yet the reasons for a situation may remain clouded. We discuss how qualitative research methods explain interconnective data components necessary for better decisions.

Many universities allow course and teaching review, but few allow feedback regarding advising. This session provides an overview the Academic Services Experience survey piloted at one university used for this purpose.

We will explain how to pair qualitative and quantitative data to improve operations decision-making along with asking the right questions of scoped data sets so that managers can best allocate scarce resources.
